The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) is looking to the community to ‘dig’ in and help ‘spike’ hunger.
They’re hosting a charity mixed community volleyball tournament next month in support of The Gathering Place.
Up to 32 teams will be taking part March 21-22 at the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall and Mother St. Bride school gyms.
Registration is $200 per team with officials saying spots are filling up.
With the rising costs of food, the board says demand for more accessible support for those in need in our community remains a priority for NPSC to partner with The Gathering Place.
“Food insecurity is growing in our community,” says Michelle Ricco, Manager of Health and Safety at NPSC and tournament co-organizer. “The Gathering Place helps not just the homeless but any family or member of the community in need. They need the support of the community to keep their doors open.”
Over the past year, NPSC has contributed over $4,100 through charity mixed volleyball tournaments, in support of The Gathering Place.
