The recent melt has resulted in about a 40% drop in area snow depth.
The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) says the snowpack is down 21.4 cm while water equivalence has dropped 65.3 mm since the last snow survey on March 14.
“The combined average snow depth is 30.5 cm and water equivalence is 83.3 mm at the three snow course locations”, says Angela Mills, NBMCA Water Resources Specialist (pictured right). “This is within the range of normal for late March.”
The conservation authority measures snow depth in North Bay, Chisholm and Corbeil.
In the meantime, another dumping of snow and mixed precipitation is expected this weekend.
