Sports Academy at Canadore looks to help athletes improve physical capabilities

Canadore College’s first High-Performance Sports Summer Academy is underway.

The program is designed for dedicated athletes looking to enhance their physical performance through expert-led strength training and conditioning. Officials say there are still spots available.

“The purpose of the Academy is to improve physical capabilities of local athletes aiming to compete at the highest level they can achieve,” says Caleb Mady, Professor in the School of Sport and Recreation.

The Summer Academy program will run through Friday, Aug. 22 at the college’s new domed facility.

Officials say along with strength training, the program offers field-based speed, agility, and reaction training, sled work and more.

They add participants must be born in 2010 or earlier for this year’s program.

The college expects to add programing geared towards different ages and skills levels for 2025-2026.
