The Health Unit is reporting seven active cases of measles in the North Bay Parry Sound District.
According to its website, the confirmed case count is now up to 30.
At last check, it was 17 last week.
“The cases we are seeing in 2025 are the first confirmed cases in our district since 1995,” states the health unit website.
In its last surveillance report, issued on May 1, Public Health Ontario reported 1,243 measles cases from October 18, 2024 to April 29, 2025.
“The increase in the number of outbreak cases and the geographic spread in recent weeks is due to continued exposures and transmission among individuals who have not been immunized,” reads the report.
Officials say areas with the highest rates of outbreak cases to date continue to be in southwestern Ontario.
