Two youth bowlers from Partners in North Bay won silver at the Youth Bowl Canada Nationals in Edmonton earlier this week (May 5-7).
The Bantam Girls Doubles Team of Mya Labonte and Marley Pedskalny earned the hardware, playing 21 games in three days.
The local team was tied for first after day one of competition, then one point back after day two.
It was in game 20 out of 21 where they lost their point to the eventual gold medal winning team, but finished strong by taking the point in their final game.
“The Nationals were the fourth and final step of a set of various competitions that the girls needed to participate and succeed in to reach this level,” says Michael MacLean, YBC Director at Partners Bowling. “They showed perseverance, dedication, determination and best of all sportsmanship throughout the three days of competition.”
This was Labonte and Pedskalny’s second consecutive trip to Nationals after a 6th place finish last year.
