The mini train at the waterfront is expected to be back up and running at the end of the month.
This after a derailment earlier this week, with the Technical Safety Standards Association brought in to investigate.
The Heritage Railway and Carousel Company says the train is expected to resume operations the weekend of May 31.
There were no injuries in the incident Monday evening.
“On Saturday, May 31 in conjunction with the ‘100 Years of Mining in North Bay’ activities in the area by the Heritage Railway and Carousel Company, there will be free rides on the train and carousel, generously sponsored by Ontario Northland,” states a release.
Officials say the Ontario Northland paint shop refurbished one train in 2018 in the colours of the first ONR diesel train in the early 50s and another train the next year in the colours of the Polar Bear Express train that runs from Cochrane to Moosonee.
The Winter Wonderland carousel will be open this weekend (May 24-25), weather permitting.
