Carpentry, plumbing, culinary arts, mining, and more.
Those were some of the skilled trades represented at an interactive day of events for approximately 100 students from Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord’s three secondary schools on Monday, May 26.
Grade 9 and 10 students from Élisabeth-Bruyère in Mattawa, Algonquin in North Bay and Franco-Cité in Sturgeon Falls got an up-close look at in-demand careers.

The board says by discovering these fields and interacting with experts, students can broaden their professional horizons, enabling them to pursue exciting, in-demand careers after graduation.
“Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord and its schools wish to thank their valued partners in education and recognize their commitment to supporting them in shaping productive citizens who will contribute to our ever-changing society,” states a release.
Officials say several partners were involved in the event, including Collège Boréal, Canadore College, Mine Connect and more.
