NoahStrong is helping families stay close to their loved ones while receiving hospital care.
The organization has donated $20,000 to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation (NBRHCF) for the NoahStrong Accommodations Program, bringing its total commitment to $25,000.
Officials say the program, which was piloted in 2023 and officially launched last year, provides short-term accommodations for caregivers who live more than 50 kilometres from the hospital.
They say it helps remove one of the most immediate financial barriers to staying by a patient’s side.
“We want to be able to help people,” say Dave and Jody Dugas, NoahStrong Founders. “We understand the financial and emotional toll that long-distance caregiving can take and, while we received tremendous support from our community, we know not everyone has the same experience. Our hope is that this program eases some of that burden for families when they need it most.”
Tammy Morison, President and CEO of the NBRCHF says it’s an inspiring and innovative investment in compassionate and exceptional care.
“We are humbled by the partnership and are honoured to celebrate and remember the kindness of Noah Dugas through this deeply meaningful program.”
Jessica Dezan, Interim Manager of Patient Flow at NBRHC, says the difference the program makes is profound.
“It allows families to focus on supporting their loved one without the added stress of finding and financially affording a place to stay,” says Dezan.
The foundation says by ensuring caregivers can be present during some of life’s most difficult moments, the accommodations program offers both practical support and emotional reassurance; values at the heart of exceptional patient care.
