The North Bay Police Service is opening a downtown office in the near future.
Police say it’ll be a resource for patrol officers to complete reports, take a short break or get some paperwork done without having to return to police headquarters, especially with the addition of downtown foot patrols coming this summer.
“This is a great opportunity for us to have a more visible footprint in the downtown,” says Chief Daryl Longworth. “I want to remind members of the public however, that this is not a place to go and find an officer, report a crime or seek advice. This is a place where the officers can go for a break or complete some paperwork. I don’t want the officers in the office. I want them out there, on the street, being visible and interacting with the public.”
Chief Longworth is thanking the Downtown Improvement Area for its willingness to partner on the pilot project.
