City police Law Enforcement Torch Run takes place Wednesday

A long-standing fundraising tradition continues Wednesday morning with the city police Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

The North Bay Police Service says officers from six law enforcement agencies and Special Olympics athletes are taking part in the run/walk.

A private barbecue is also taking place afterwards for participants.

Officials say the torch run is a signature fundraising event for Special Olympics Ontario and has raised over a billion dollars globally since 1983.

They say the organization is dedicated to enriching the lives of those with an intellectual disability through sport.
