Three types of salami have been recalled after being linked to a Salmonella outbreak.
The Public Health Agency of Canada says they include:
- Rea brand Genoa Salami Sweet (Lots: 5035 226 and 5049 226)
- Rea brand Genoa Salami Hot (Lots: 5020 228 and 5035 228)
- Bona brand Mild Genova Salami (Lot: 5035 226)
The agency says there are 57 lab-confirmed cases of Salmonella illness linked to the outbreak, including 13 in Ontario and 44 in Alberta.
It says people became sick between mid-April and late May, with seven people hospitalized.
Officials say products were distributed to:
- Grocery stores
- Specialty markets
- Restaurants and cafes, delis, and butcher shops
These products may have been used and sold in prepared products like sandwiches or at deli counters.
Officials say do not eat the recalled product, adding it should be thrown out or returned to the location where it was purchased.
Along with Ontario and Alberta, the agency says the product was also distributed in Manitoba.
