Along with being MP for Nipissing-Timiskaming, Pauline Rochefort has a couple of added tasks on Parliament Hill.

She has been sworn in as Parliamentary Secretary to the Secretary of State (Rural Development).

“The Canadian government is working to help rural communities grow and succeed, recognizing how important they are to the country’s economy and society,” says Rochefort.  “This appointment is an opportunity to support the many rural constituents and businesses in Nipissing-Timiskaming and across Canada.”

The former mayor of East Ferris has also been appointed to the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates.

“The Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring government operations are effective, efficient, and transparent, with a particular focus on the financial aspects of government activities, including those of the Privy Council Office, Treasury Board Secretariat, and Public Services and Procurement Canada,” says Rochefort.

The nine-member multi-party committee includes four Liberal Members of Parliament, four Conservative MPs and one Bloc Québécois MP.

The House of Commons is set to adjourn this week until mid-September.
