‘Record-breaking’ washer tournament for Let’s Remember Adam campaign

Officials with the Let’s Remember Adam washer tournament and raffle say the sixth annual event was a record-breaking success.

They say 69 teams of two competed, the most they’ve ever had, surpassing last year’s mark by seven teams.

Over $13,000 was raised, a record for the tournament, with all proceeds going directly to support the Let’s Remember Adam campaign, which aims to advocate for school bus safety and the protection of children.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement to see such incredible support for this important cause,” says Pierre Ranger, Chair of the Let’s Remember Adam campaign and one of Adam’s brothers. “The funds raised, and the community support we’ve received, will allow us to expand the Let’s Remember Adam campaign to reach more communities, help improve school bus safety, and work toward real legislative changes.”

Specifically, the campaign says the funds help them will focus on:

  • Billboard replacements and repairs to continue spreading awareness about school bus safety
  • Advocacy for stricter laws surrounding stop-arm violations, making it more costly for those who fail to stop for a school bus
  • Installation of stop-arm cameras on all school buses as an industry safety standard, with hopes to expand this initiative across Ontario and eventually throughout Canada

For the second consecutive year, the champions of the tournament were Alex Janveaux and Gavin Doucette.
