Purolator Tackle Hunger sees over 5,500 lbs delivered to North Bay Food Bank

Over 5,500 lbs of food has been delivered to the North Bay Food Bank, thanks to the community and the Purolator Tackle Hunger Red Bag campaign.

Held from June 14 to 21, the campaign saw 2,000 red bags dropped off throughout the area, with residents asked to fill up the bags with non-perishable food items. The filled bags, which were left on doorsteps, were then collected by Purolator employees and brought to the food bank.

Since 2019, Purolator has organized more than 100 Red Bag food drives, collecting more than 300,000 pounds of food, for deserving food bank partners like the North Bay Food Bank.

“We are incredibly grateful to the people of North Bay and Purolator for their outstanding generosity and support. Their donations have made a significant impact in our fight against food insecurity, ensuring that those in need receive the essential supplies they deserve,” said Debbie Marson, Executive Director, North Bay Food Bank. “By coming together, we are making a real difference in the lives of many.”

Purolator officials say The North Bay Food Bank has been serving the local community since 1987 and assists approximately 800-1,000 people each month, 27 per cent of whom are children.

“In leading Purolator Tackle Hunger Red Bag campaigns, I’m deeply motivated by the connections we forge within our community. The support we provide to the North Bay Food Bank, especially during a time when donations are typically scarce, is truly impactful,” said Cory Haslett, Operations Support Representative, North Bay, Purolator. “I am encouraged and proud of our community’s collective effort to supply the food bank with a substantial amount of food and essential items, including diapers and menstrual products.”
