The city says that includes special centennial-themed events.  First up, is the return of the Canada Day 5K Road Race and the Canada Day Regatta.

Opening Ceremonies begin at noon at the Kiwanis Bandshell with the singing of O’Canada and a performance by the Legion Pipes & Drums, followed by a birthday treat.

The Canada Day Kids Zone includes robotics displays, kickboxing, a Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre – dress-up station, paint the bus, carnival-style games, telescopes, Theater Outreach On-Stage performances from Seussical the Musical, mini-nets, sticks, and ringette demos and more.

There‘s also the Centennial Zone behind the North Bay Museum with games, crafts, storyboards, a giant colouring board, and centennial poster contest displays.

Other highlights include reptile shows, food vendors, and live music all day, with a fireworks finale over Lake Nipissing at 10 p.m.

Road closures will be in effect from 8 to 11 p.m.
