The number of job postings in Nipissing in May was almost identical month-over-month.
The Labour Market Group reports 564 job postings that month, up 1.4% from April, but down just over 9% compared to May last year.
“While the year-over-year decreases may look alarming, the May 2025 numbers are in line with the May 2023 numbers indicating that the 2024 numbers were likely a one-off and unsustainable,” states the May Jobs Report. “This month, there were 266 unique employers; a minor increase in month-over-month (+2.3%, +6) comparisons building on the momentum from December and marking 6 consecutive months of increases.”
The top five hiring employers:
- North Bay Regional Health Centre
- Nipissing University
- Canadore College
- Voyageur Aviation Corp
- Ontario Northland
The top hiring industry, with 23.4% of the May job postings, is Health Care & Social Assistance.
Retail Trade (16.3%) and Educational Services (14.9%) round out the top three.
