A couple of councillor motions are set to come forward at next week’s meeting dealing with expenses.
Among other things, a motion put forward by councillor Jamie Lowery calls for an independent review of Mayor Peter Chirico’s expenses.
It also asks that he temporarily step aside from the police services board until the review is done and brought to council.
Last week, Chirico asked the Integrity Commissioner to investigate his expenses.
This after the finance department felt about $6,000 in expenses in 2023 and about $10,000 in 2024 should not have been claimed as city expenses.
All of the money was paid back.
The other motion coming next week calls for staff to bring forward a Transparency and Accountability By-Law to disclose council member expenses on a quarterly basis.
