City man charged with attempted vehicle theft

City police report a 19-year-old North Bay man has been charged with attempted theft of a vehicle.

This after officers were called to a report of a suspicious person on a Lakeshore Drive property just before 12:30 am Monday.

Police say surveillance footage shows attempts were made to get into vehicles on the lot, with damage to a U-Haul cargo van.

The accused was located shortly after and arrested.

“The business owner acted swiftly, which allowed our officers to quickly respond, investigate, and locate the suspect within a short period of time,” says Inspector McFarlane of the North Bay Police Service. “This is a great example of how the community plays a key role in supporting public safety and effective policing. Prompt action played a key role in bringing this situation to a safe and timely resolution.”

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
