Park designs include new access to waterfront, city sign, skating area & more

Three conceptual designs have been developed involving the latest Downtown Waterfront redevelopment, and the city wants to hear your thoughts on them.

An online survey has been created with public input being accepted until Jan. 14, 2026.

This next phase of the redevelopment involves the large common area behind the North Bay Museum.

All three designs include multiple pathways, including one using the underpass to the waterfront that was originally proposed for the Heritage Railway.

There’s also a city sign, winter skating area, a number of pathways, event and performance spaces, a vendor plaza, and more.

Officials say the project aims to enhance recreation, tourism, and community life.

They add it’s designed to complement nearby amenities, including the Family of Rotary Splash Pad and Playground, the North Bay and Dionne Quints museums, multi-use courts, and the Kiwanis All-Wheel Park.

The city says previous public input was gathered through public meetings, a Farmer’s Market booth, and an initial online survey, which received over 1,400 responses.
