Tourism North Bay says some of the country’s brightest young innovators are coming to the city this spring.
North Bay is set to host the STEM Racing 2026 Canadian National Championship from April 10-12.
The event, formerly known as F1 in Schools, will take place at the Canadore College Sportsplex.
Teams of high school students are challenged to design, manufacture, and race miniature compressed-air-powered cars, while also developing marketing, branding, and business strategies.
“We are thrilled to bring high school students from across Canada to the Canadore College Sportsplex for the inaugural STEM Racing Canada National Championships,” says Kyle Boyko, President and Board Chair of Inspire Tech Canada Corp. “This historic event celebrates innovation, teamwork, and the future of Canadian STEM education.”
Josh Willard, Manager, Marketing, Recruitment and Storytelling at Canadore College says this is a major opportunity to see what’s possible when STEM learning meets hands-on design and skilled trades.
“Students aren’t just racing a car — they’re applying engineering, problem-solving, and teamwork in a real-world competition environment,” he says. “We’re proud to welcome teams from across Canada alongside InspireTech Canada, The City of North Bay, and Tourism North Bay to help inspire the next generation of builders, innovators, and future leaders.”
Officials also expect the event to deliver meaningful economic and community impact for North Bay.
“Hosting a national championship of this calibre reinforces North Bay’s reputation as a destination that supports innovation, education, and major events,” says Tanya Bédard, Executive Director of Tourism North Bay. “We’re excited to welcome students, educators, families, and supporters from across Canada and introduce them to everything our city has to offer.”
