Jury makes recommendations following crane death in Sault

A coroner’s jury looking into the death of a city worker in Sault Ste. Marie has adopted some recommendations from his union, CUPE.  Jamie Vecchio died in 2009 when a crane backed into a hole he was working in crushing him to death.  CUPE suggested air horns for mobile cranes and annual inspections which the jury accepted.  In all it made nine recommendations which have been sent to the ministries of Transportation and Labour for possible implementation.
