SkyHawks ready to thrill North Bay for Armed Forces Day

Most military training exercises are not done in front of the public, but The SkyHawks are an exception.

They are the Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team and they will be performing an acrobatic demonstration as part of today’s Armed Forces Day celebration at the waterfront. Corporal Josh Robillard says it’s an honour to be invited to perform on Armed Forces Day and they can’t wait for North Bay to see their show.

He says they perform jumps in several different and complex formations and it’s something everyone should see.

Captain Jake Porter says being a part of this team is one of the greatest tasks the Canadian Army has to offer.

He says today’s show at the waterfront will be a spectacle and something that isn’t always shared with the public.

He says to hear the crowd cheering as they land is always a warm reception. He says the kids in the crowd go over to shake their hands and it brightens their day.

A parade with military personnel starts at 11:15am to kick start the festivities.
