$23,500 of suspected drugs off city streets after NBPS investigation

Two men from the Greater Toronto Area are facing charges after the North Bay Police Service (NBPS) says officers seized $23,5000 worth of suspected drugs.

On Aug. 28, NBPS says as part of an ongoing Street Crime Unit investigation, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of Worthington Street East.

A 21-year-old was arrested and charged after suspected fentanyl and cocaine and more were found.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A warrant for a 55-year-old has also been issued, though the accused has yet to be arrested.

“This investigation highlights the importance of our investigative teams working together. Their coordination, communication and quick action allowed us to intercept these drugs before they reached our streets,” said A/Deputy Jeff Warner. “We don’t want these drugs coming into our city and affecting our families and our neighbourhoods. I’m proud of the work our members put into this investigation and the way multiple units came together.”

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the outstanding accused is asked to contact the NBPS at 705-472-1234.
