North Bay man charged after restaurant disturbance

A 36-year-old North Bay man is facing charges following a disturbance at a Lakeshore Dr. restaurant.

The North Bay Police Service says on Sept. 19, officers responded to a calls at a restaurant on the 300 block of Lakeshore Dr., that the accused allegedly entered the business and approach multiple people while shouting, disrupting product display and instigating a verbal altercation which escalated to physical assault.

Police say when officers arrived, the accused was located in the parking lot and assaulted a police officer before being arrested without further incident.

“Everyone in our community has the right to feel safe when going about their daily lives. We will not tolerate behaviour that puts others at risk or disrupts the safety of our shared spaces,” said A/Deputy Jeff Warner. “Our officers put themselves at risk every day when they respond to calls for service, never knowing what they may face. Those who use violence against our officers while they are serving and protecting our community will be charged accordingly.”

The accused was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
