$100,000 in suspected drugs and handgun seized by police

Two people from North Bay are facing a slew of charges after city police seized more than $100,000 worth of suspected drugs, a loaded handgun and property believed to be stolen.

The North Bay Police Service says last Tuesday officers responded to a report that two people were assaulted, one with a baton and another with bear spray.

A couple days later, two people believed to be involved were identified and arrested when a search warrant was executed on the 2100 block of Trout Lake Road.

Police say suspected fentanyl and crystal meth were seized along with a loaded .22-calbre revolver-style handgun.

More than two dozen Milwaukee brand tools, home security devices, and other items were also recovered.

Charges include assault with a weapon, property obtained by crime, drug possession for the purpose trafficking and unauthorized firearm possession.

Both of the accused, a 41-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, were remanded after a bail hearing and have a North Bay court date next week.
