E-Scooter advisory from the city and police

The city and the North Bay Police Service are advising residents that e-scooters are not allowed to be used on public property in North Bay.

Officials say under Ontario’s e-scooter pilot program, municipalities have to pass a bylaw allowing their use before they can operate on municipal roads, sidewalks, trails, paths, walkways, or public parks.

They say the city has not passed a bylaw permitting the use of e-scooters on public property, meaning they cannot be operated on public property in North Bay.

Police say that includes the Kinsmen Trail and Kate Pace Way.

They add anyone found operating an e-scooter on public property in North Bay may be subject to enforcement action.

Fines can range from $250 to $2,500 under the Highway Traffic Act.
