Investigation into West Ferris area break-ins leads to charges

A 36-year-old Bonfield resident is facing charges after an investigation into a series of residential break-and-enters in the Mulligan and Marshall Park Drive areas.

Along with four break-in counts, he’s also charged with trafficking in stolen property and disguise with intent.

Police say the break-ins happened between Aug. 21 and Sept. 15, adding homes were entered while residents were away, with jewellery and small collectibles targeted.

The investigation led to an arrest last Saturday afternoon in the area of McIntyre and Fraser streets.

“Everyone has the right to feel safe and secure in their own home. When someone unlawfully enters that space, the impact goes far beyond the loss of property. It can leave victims feeling violated, vulnerable and less secure in the place where they should feel safest,” says Insp. Scott McFarlane. “Our priority remains supporting those affected and holding those responsible accountable.”

The accused was released on an Undertaking with a future court date.
