Ontario to continue funding Indigenous Economic Development Fund

Over the next seven years, the provincial government will invest $70-million into the Indigenous Economic Development Fund.

This investment will help Indigenous communities develop long-term strategies to diversify their economies. As well, it will increase access to employment and training opportunities for Indigenous people.

The province says this is one of many steps in the journey of healing and reconciliation with Indigenous people. The government says this reflex their commitment to working with their Indigenous partners to create a better future for everyone in Ontario.

This fund has been accessible since 2014, and since then 51 projects have been funded across the province with Indigenous partners.

As well, this money will allow the startup and expand Indigenous businesses. It will also enable communities and businesses to collaborate on region-wide employment and skills.
