Fedeli encouraging stiffer penalties for human trafficking

The Progressive Conservatives in Ontario are raising awareness about a bill to stem human trafficking.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says this is not just an Eastern European or Asian problem.

He says it’s going on across Canada and adds just recently North Bay police dealt with a human trafficking case.

Fedeli says men in their 20’s pretend to become the boyfriend of girls 12 to 15 years old and then con them into believing they can have a better life with more money.

He says the men get the victims hooked on drugs and offer them up as prostitutes. Fedeli says this trade can bring in about $250,000 a year for the men involved.

Fedeli hopes the Bill to fight human trafficking with stiff penalties against the Romeos becomes law during the fall.
