Children’s Festival encourages kids to get involved in the arts

The first ever Children’s Festival in North Bay is taking place at the Captiol Centre on Saturday.

Kids will learn about the arts and take part in songs, dance, theatre and more. Theatre Festival Coordinator Andrew Palangio says this is a chance for kids to learn to develop new interests.

He says it’s a way to walk into one space and see what North Bay has to offer in the arts.

He adds you’ll find out if your child has an interest in something they have never tried before. Palangio labels it as extra-curricular but super fun.

Palangio says there are children’s festivals in other markets and they wanted to bring one to North Bay. He says there is a big festival in Ottawa that takes place every year and they wanted to replicate that here.

Palangio says this is something that was missing from the arts menu in North Bay.

He says there will be so much to do including: art and music workshops, a playroom, indoor carnival, face painting, Zumba and more.

Local dignitaries such as Mayor Al McDonald and Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli will be reading children’s stories.

Workshops get started at 9:30am and tickets are $5, but children two and under are free.
