Sleep Country Canada opens new store and donates new beds in North Bay

The Nipissing Transition House is getting 21 twin mattresses and the accessories to go with them thanks to Sleep Country Canada.

The company just opened a store in North Bay and announced their donation for women and children affected by domestic violence.

Doctor Natalya Brown is the Chair Person with the Nipissing Transition House Board, and she says this is an amazing donation. She says they are a 20 bed house and are getting 21 beds which is above and beyond what they expected.

She adds the transition house will be able to continue to provide high quality service to their clients. Brown says this will help give their clients a comfortable place to be during a traumatic period in their lives.

Brown says they have a low readmission rate for clients. She says that’s thanks to a good educational curriculum and having the right supports in place. Brown says they also make sure they are in touch with other community partners that can help them move further along in the process.

She adds they have very strong and committed staff for the women and children who are in need.

Co-Founder and Executive Co-Chair of Sleep Country Canada Christine Magee says for women and children going through a traumatic experience, a comfortable bed can make a big difference. She says for someone to not worry about what they are sleeping on and getting a good night’s sleep is just a small step, but an important one.

Magee says they wanted to do something to really help out their newest community. She says they surveyed community members about some of the agencies in town that do a tremendous job for its residents.

Magee says there was an overwhelming number of people who put forward the Nipissing Transition House.
