The face lift for City Hall continues this summer

City Hall’s Leger Square was reconstructed in 2012 and the entrance to the parking lot at was redone last year.

This year there is more reconstruction work coming to City Hall, as council has approved $93,000 for the project. This will go towards interlock brick replacement of the Leger Square staircase and replacement of the concrete stairs under Council Chambers. Deputy Mayor Sheldon Forgette says they need to keep City Hall in tip-top shape.

He says City Hall does not have a mortgage on it. Forgette says they also make money off the building because there are tenants using it.

He says they have to take care of the building because it would be a lot more expensive to go buy a new one. Forgette says the building is over 40-years-old and natural upgrades are necessary.
