Every drop of water counts towards your bill this summer

The city of North Bay is encouraging residents to think conservatively when using water this summer.

During the dry summer months, excess usage can put a strain on the municipal water supply. It will also come at an extra cost for home owners now that the water meters are in place. Chair of Engineering and Works Tanya Vrebosch says in a release, it will be important for residents to adjust their consumption habits.

Failing to do so could lead to an increase in costs. She added they aren’t telling people to stop using water, but to be aware and think conservatively.

There are several ways to conserve such as: reducing outdoor watering, installing rain barrels, using a broom to clean the driveway instead of a hose and covering your pool to reduce evaporation.

Residents are also encouraged to share ways they are saving water on social media. Use the hashtag #everydropcounts and contribute to the conversation.

There is an online portal where you can view your water consumption on the city of North Bay website.
