North Bay resident to City Council on potential casino: Buyer Beware

Janet Zimbalatti believes a casino in North Bay would create a “black hole” for the community.

Zimbalatti’s financial projections would see $32 million as the casino’s outflow, but only $14 million would actually go towards the city while nearly $18 million would go back to the Ontario Liquor and Gaming Corporation.

The OLG has touted the positives of a casino in North Bay, that’s the job of the corporation, to sell gambling according to Zimbalatti.

She says it’s the people’s job to look at both sides of the coin, the negatives and positives.

Zimbalatti hopes city council will support the completion of a economic and social impact study before making it’s decision.
