North Bay High in the rankings for sexual assault

Maclean’s Magazine listed North Bay as the fifth worst rated city when it comes to being a victim of sexual assault.

The North Bay Police Service does not dispute Maclean Magazine’s recent analysis, but Police Chief Shawn Devine wanted to make clear that a majority of sexual assaults that occurred were between people who know each other.

Devine doesn’t want people to think that their city is unsafe.

In 2015 there were 62 incidents, and ultimately 25 people were charged.

Devine made clear, multiple times, that no number is a good number. The North Bay Police take sexual assault very seriously and are asking the public to assist them and community partners like the Amelia Rising Sexual Assault Centre.
