City Councillor Believes Provincial Government Should go back to basics

City Councillor Daryl Vaillancourt believes we’ve gone from the ridiculous, to the absurd when it comes to the provincial government’s priorities.

He says the government would be better off if it went back to basics, focusing on infrastructure, healthcare and social services instead of taxing citizens to try and reduce greenhouse gases.

With the highest electricity costs in the country, Vaillancourt believes the cap and trade tax will make life even more difficult for taxpayers.

Vaillancourt says he’s worried about the environment too, but doesn’t think measures like the cap and trade tax will do anything when countries like China continue to pollute.

Vaillancourt mentioned that when people are struggling to pay the bills and keep the lights on, the last thing they’re worried about is a windmill in their backyard.
