Potential Cycling Trail Upsetting Residents

A potential bike trail on Gorman Street has residents up in arms.

One of those residents is Monique Peters, who says Gorman is a narrow street with limited parking as it is and isn’t the right place for the Trans Canada Trail to be built. Peters says residents would have between eight to ten feet between their front doors and the trail.

To the people who say it’s a case of “not in my backyard”, Peters says those people should take a look at Gorman for themselves. Peters says she isn’t opposed to Trans Canada Trail, she just thinks Gorman Street isn’t the right place to put it.

Peters thinks a town hall, or some online interaction would be good ways to get public feedback on the best place for the trail. The City of North Bay has stated the trail is still in the planning phase and no decision has been made.
