Peter Chirico is no longer suing Councillor Mark King.
Chirico launched the lawsuit in February, seeking $1.25 million in damages for remarks King made in December after council named John Severino to the managing director of community services position.
According to court documents, Chirico has dropped his libel case against the North Bay city councillor, and agreed to a dismissal with prejudice and without costs.
A full and final release signed by Chirico includes an acknowledgement that the action has no merit, and the dismissal of the case with prejudice means it can’t be brought back to court.
