Employment was at 60.3 per cent last month in the area according to Stats Canada.
That’s nearly a seven per cent raise over the numbers in August of last year, and just under the provincial employment rate of 60.4 per cent.
Meanwhile, unemployment saw a slight jump from 5.5 percent in August 2015 to 5.9 percent last month. It’s within the standard of error so it’s not deemed statistically significant. Overall in Ontario, the employment rate was 6.7 per cent.
The stats include the City of North Bay, Callander, East Ferris and Bonfield.
