Workplace Safety North, Ontario’s occupational health and safety association for forestry, mining, and paper, printing, and converting sectors, recognizes Ontario workplaces that each year that have a strong safety culture.
WSN President and Chief Executive Officer, Candys Ballanger-Michaud, says all submitted assessments are automatically considered for the President’s Award, and scoring is based on the self-assessment in combination with statistical performance over the past two calendar years.
The mining sector winner this year is North Bay-based Cementation Canada. The Presidents awards will be presented later this month at the Workplace Safety North annual general meeting.
The winners were selected from the 22 companies that received Workplace Excellence Awards earlier this year. Other local winners were J.S. Redpath Limited and Nordic Minesteel Technologies.
