YMCA Road Hockey Classic rescheduled for Spring 2017

The North Bay YMCA has announced the YMCA Road Hockey Fall Classic has been postponed until spring 2017.

The fall classic was originally set to take place on Saturday, September 17th at Lee Park. A new date for the event will be announced in the coming weeks.

YMCA General Manager of Health, Fitness & Aquatics, Yvonne Taylor, says feedback from the community suggested September is a hectic time for families. Especially for those with children enrolled in other recreational programs.

Taylor wants to ensure that the road hockey tournament accommodates, rather than excludes families. And believes that moving the event makes it possible to do that.

Taylor says in addition to helping families, moving the tournament also provides an opportunity to expand the event to its original vision. The tournament will see the YMCA work closely with local schools, to run an elementary day event along side the tournament. According to Taylor, that underscores the real mission of the YMCA, which is to enable good health in spirit, body and mind for people of all ages.
