Gin-Cor Industries have been ranked number 370 on the 28th annual Profit 500, the definitive ranking of Canada’s fastest-growing companies.
Published in the October issue of Canadian Business and at PROFITguide.com, the Profit 500 ranks Canadian businesses by their five-year revenue growth. Gin-Cor Industries, which is out of Mattawa, made the list with five-year revenue growth of 134 per cent.
Gin-Cor President and CEO Luc Stang says he’s pleased and honoured by the rankings. But, says its in line with his business plan from six years ago. Stang it’s a testament to the focus and the quality of detail from all of his employees that they are growing so quickly. Stang says he expects to see similar growth in the coming years.
Gin-Cor Industries, which includes Gin-Cor, Durabody Industries and JC Trailers Fabrication, builds customized work trucks and trailers. Its products include dump bodies, pre-built trucks, snow and ice equipment, cranes, flat and tilting decks, roll-offs and hook-lifts.
His message to his employees is to believe in themselves, and in the systems that are currently in place. Northern Ontario has seen some uncertain times when it comes to business lately, but Stang doesn’t think being in the North has held back his business at all. In fact, Stang believes the it’s been a good thing. The collaboration of all of his staff has led to a very customer focused organization. Without the clients, there would be no growth. Stang says thanks to all of that, they are now doing business outside of the province as well.
But Stang wanted to make it known, that these rankings don’t include two recent acquisitions. If those were added, they would place much lower in the rankings. But that’s a positive thing, showing more sustainability and being able to reinvest in other similar businesses. Stang believes in the next couple of years when those things are factored in, Gin-Cor will drop a little in the rankings but maintain a level of recognition in the national picture.
Stang believes the North is still an untapped area for growth with their current suppliers in the North. Stang says the quality of life in the North is attractive to people for wanting to stay in communities in this region. He thinks there’s a different work ethic in the North, where employees want to stay with an organization for a long time. Stang says there’s a bunch of resilient men and women that he gets to work with every day.
