Nipissing University student wins McDonald’s scholarship award

McDonald’s Restaurants in North Bay and Sturgeon Falls has awarded Harrison Hoffman with their annual McDonald’s Employee Scholarship Award.

Harrison was honoured for making a difference at work, at school and in the community.  He’s received $500 which will go towards his tuition and books.

Brad Haines is the owner and operator of both McDonald’s franchises in North Bay and Sturgeon Falls. Haines says as one of the largest student employers in the country, McDonald’s is committed to creating opportunities for team members. As well as helping their employees meet their personal and professional goals.

Haines says the McDonald’s Employee Scholarship Program celebrates the accomplishments by members of their team, like Harrison, and shows support in helping them advance and pursue further education.

The Employee Scholarship Program was established more than 20 years ago. It was created to recognize McDonald’s employees for their outstanding accomplishments on the job, at school or in the community.  Since the program began, more than 4,000 McDonald’s employees have shared in McDonald’s Scholarship awards totalling more than $3.2 million.

Haines says McDonald’s Canada recognizes the important balance between school and part-time employment. Through flexible scheduling practices, they work to ensure that education remains a top priority for student employees.
