There’s still no movement from politicians to equalize native and non native policing. And that concerns Chief Pat Madahbee, the head of the Anishinabek Nation. The Ipperwash Inquiry, which was called after native protestor Dudley George died, made 40 recommendations on policing in Ontario. That was seven years ago and Madahbee says those recommendations are collecting dust meaning First Nation cops are at risk. He’s calling on the feds and province to work with Aboriginals to resolve inequities in policing which include funding threats.
