Fedeli: More Ring of Fire delays

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says northerners should brace themselves for no movement on the Ring of Fire.  A few months ago the minister of northern development announced a Development Corporation to move the chromite project forward.  However, the 60-day deadline to form the corporation has passed and Fedeli says now we’re getting excuses for why nothing has happened.  Fedeli says in the legislature, minister Michael Gravelle is saying he doesn’t know if the 60 days refers to the point in time from when he was sworn in, or when the budget was read or if it’s from the time the budget is passed.  The former North Bay mayor says Gravelle is waffling.   And in another move backwards, the majority Liberals have changed the ground rules for providing $1 billion for a transportation link to the Ring of Fire.  On May 25th, while in Thunder Bay, Premier Kathleen Wynne announced the commitment and added the Liberals would move ahead with the link with or without federal help.   Fedeli says six weeks later in the budget the Liberals now say they will only commit $1 billion if the federal government also commits the same amount.
