The owner of L’Ami Garden Centre in North Bay will ask council in writing to give him back $4,100 in tax penalties. The suggestion came from councillor George Maroosis Monday night. Case L’Ami was back at council saying the mayor was working on the issue. L’Ami also said Al McDonald had majority support for the move but then there was a delay. Maroosis says putting the request in writing could resolve the issue one way or the other. L’Ami was assessed the penalty because he didn’t pay his taxes on time. He was late because revenue at his garden business was down over two summers because of lengthy delays in road construction on Lakeshore.
