Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli has announced $69,000 has been awarded through the Ontario Arts Council to local arts groups. Project grants include $30,000 for Aanmitaagzi through the Multi and Inter-Arts Organizations program towards the operation of the organization. This multi-disciplinary, artist-run organization serves artists and community members from Nipissing First Nation and the surrounding area. $30,000 is going to the Near North Mobile Media Lab Collective through the Compass program for an arts management intern.
Finally, $9,000 will be going towards the Nipissing Region Curatorial Collective through the Visual Arts Project program for the publication Elly Mackey: Abstraction in Isolation. This publication features reproductions of Eleanor Mackey’s artwork, three interpretative essays, and a Blu-ray disc with clips from a documentary on Mackey’s life. Fedeli says these organizations are vital to the vibrant arts and culture community in Nipissing. Fedeli offered his congratulations and thanks to all of them.
