International Women’s Day being celebrated locally

Today is International Women’s Day, and there’s a few local events happening today to celebrate.

At 11:00am, the Day without Women march started at Amelia Rising. Women were encouraged to come out, wear red, not shop and not work to recognize women’s value to the socio-economic system. A few speeches were scheduled, and then the group walked around downtown in solidarity with other marches happening around the world.

That’s not the only event planned for today. There will be an International Women’s Day Tea tonight with guest speaker Dima Abdulaziz, a Syrian refugee, who will share her powerful story. It takes place tonight at Calvary North Bay on Ski Club Road at 7:00pm.
