North Bay continues age-friendly initiatives

Up to now North Bay city hall has pursued age-friendly initiatives on its own.  But mayor Al McDonald would like to see businesses, agencies, boards and commissions get more involved.   The city has a long list of how it’s made the community age friendly over the years and council and staff agree more can still be done.  McDonald believes getting more groups involved is a step in the right direction and staff will look into this.  Meanwhile, the city will keep using the work done by the World Health Organization in this area as a guideline as it pursues age friendliness.  Over the years the city has acted on numerous projects that make getting around easier for older people and those with mobility issues.  In fact council heard from city hall staffer Ian Kilgour that North Bay is not a follower in this area but a doer.
