Nipissing and Parry Sound CAS Board meets with CUPE Local 2049 representatives

Representatives of CUPE Local 2049 met with the Board of Directors from the Nipissing Children’s Aid Society last night. Interim President of the CAS Board John Stopper says he would like to express his thanks to the CUPE representatives for sharing their views in a spirit of respectful and constructive dialogue. Stopper says he hopes open and frank discussions like this will open the door to further contract negotiations and a speedy end to the current work disruption.

Also in attendance was CAS Executive Director Gisèle Hébert, negotiating representatives and management. The special meeting of the board included a presentation by CUPE and a question and answer session between CUPE representatives and the CAS board.

Hébert says yesterday evening’s discussions built a foundation for future talks by setting a positive tone and bringing further clarity and transparency to the key issues setting them apart. Hébert also added she wants to build on the momentum established last night so they can move faster toward resolution and get their staff back to work.
